    Awesome Simple Freezer Coin Trick

Here’s Why You Should Leave A Coin In The Freezer Before Leaving The House

    Awesome Simple Freezer Coin Trick

When you are preparing for a vacation, usually everybody has a list of things they check before leaving the house. People double check their luggage, make sure the windows are closed, and turn off all the lights, but very few check their freezer.  Your freezer can be affected by power outages while you’re away, and that is something that I would never think of.  While it’s safe to refreeze raw or cooked food that has been previously thawed in the refrigerator, it’s impossible to know how long your food has thawed while you were away.  In fact, food that may look perfectly fine,  may contain harmful bacteria .

Next time you leave the home for a long period of time, place a cup of water in the freezer overnight. Once the water has frozen over, place a penny on top and pack your bags!

When you come home, check on the cup.

If the cup is unchanged, the food in your freezer should be fine. The same goes for the food in your refrigerator!
On the other hand, if the penny is at the bottom of the cup, then the ice (and food) has had the time to completely thaw. This is a sign that you should clear your freezer.
Lastly, if the penny is the middle of the ice, then your freezer was only out of order for a short period of time. This means that most of the food should still be safe to eat.
In any case, if you’re not sure whether food is still edible, throw it out.

This tip is great for vacations, evacuations, and even day-to-day life. After all, if you don’t check your freezer often, it’s impossible to know how safe your food really is.

DIY-Soap That Looks Like Crystals - DIY Crystal Cluster Gemstone Soap 2 1024x576

    • Transparent Glycerin Soap
    • Soap mold ((square or round))
    • Soap colorant ((choose a color you like))
    • Soap scent or essential oils
    • Rubbing Alcohol
    • Knife
    • Gold Mica ((optional))
    1. Cut the transparent glycerin soap into small cubes, put them in a bowl.
    2. Put in the microwave oven for a minute or so until it’s totally melted.
    3. Pour about half of the melted soap into your mold. Leave it to cool and harden.
    4. Prepare the leftover soap before it hardens. This will be the second layer, now you can put in a soap colorant and soap scent or essential oil. Mix.
    5. Check the clear soap in the mold, see if has hardened already. Scratch the surface with a toothpick before you add the second layer. This will make them stick together well
    6. Spray some rubbing alcohol on top of the first layer before you pour another thin layer of colored soap.
    7. Get the leftover soap mixture then add more coloring. This time, make it darker than the previous shade.
    8. Check the second layer, if it is already hard; scratch the top with a toothpick then add the next layer. Wait for it to harden then take it out from the mold.
    9. Cut the soap into pieces then create triangle shapes by cutting the clear soap on both sides.
    10. Continue cutting the sides of each piece to create crystal-like pieces. Make as many as you like. Cut the remaining bits into even smaller pieces.
    11. Pour a new layer of transparent glycerin soap into a mold.
    12. Add the small pieces of soap before it hardens and then start adding the crystal-like pieces into the mold. Add them in different directions or how you would want it to look like once set.
    13. You can also try using other colors for the base.
    14. *For an added glow, you can brush some gold mica on the tip of each crystal, but this is optional.

I thought these were really cool.  Lucy Designs is Awesome, I just had to share. Lucy created these table leg dragonflies almost 10 years ago but first blogged about them about 5 years ago when she came up with the idea to use old ceiling fan blades for the wings. When her ceiling fan blades ran out, Lucy cut the wings out of wood and added butterflies to the mix as well.
