Registration of dot bangla (.bangla) domain that opened for public on January 1 is available at the Ekushey Book Fair. Interested people can get the registration of the dot bangla (.bangla) domain at the stall no-50 of BTCL (Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited), said BTCL Director (Public Relations and Publication) Meer Mohammad Morshed in an official release last day.
The month-long Ekushey Book Fair began at February 01 on the premises of Bangla Academy. At the book fair, the BTCL will also screen a documentary on the dot bangla (.bangla) domain.
Registration of the domain is also available on online and customer could pay the fee by using state-own mobile phone operator Teletalk.
ICAAN (The International Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers) has officially allotted the dot bangla (.bangla) internet domain to Bangladesh on October last year. BTCL has been assigned to handle the domain.
Indian state West Bengal and Sierra Leone, one of whose official languages is Bangla, had also applied for the internationalized domain name (IDN) label- dot bangla (.bangla).
ICANN approved another domain label for Bangladesh as dot bd (.bd). From now, .bangla is Bangladesh’s own Unicode domain label.
It is the second country code top-level domain (TLD) for Bangla websites.
According to the BTCL, total registered users of .bd have reached 36,500.
