BASIS SoftExpo, the biggest exhibition in country’s information technology industries, will begin at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC), Sher-E-Bangla Nagar, Agargaon, Dhaka – 1207, Bangladesh here on February 1. Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) is organizing the show. This is for eleventh time for BASIS is organizing the event with this year’s slogan “Future in Motion”.
Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury is expected to inaugurate the four-day show. Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and State Minister for ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak will grace the inaugural function as special guests, among others, informed by Bangladesh Snagbad Sangstha (BSS).
BASIS, the national trade body for Software and IT Enabled Service industry of Bangladesh, held a press briefing at its office at Dhaka on Jan 28, 2017 marking the exhibition.
Chaired by BASIS president Mustafa Jabbar, the briefing was addressed by its senior vice-president Russell T Ahmed, vice-president M Rashidul Hasan, BASIS director and convener of this year’s exhibition Syed Almas Kabir, among others.
Expressing his hope of holding a successful event, the BASIS president said BASIS SoftExpo is the most effective place for expanding businesses of country’s IT companies.
“We could not organize this event separately after 2012. From now on, it will be held on every year and I hope this year’s event will be a grand success,” Jabbar said.
According to the organizers, like earlier occasions, this year’s exhibition will showcase the capacity of country’s software and IT industries, its successes, and will hold many seminars and workshops regarding the sector.
The organizers are hoping around half a million people will attend the four-day extravaganza.
“We will divide the show area in four sections- business software zone, ITES and BPO zone, mobile innovation zone and e-commerce zone. Local and international business matchmaking sessions will be held for the business expansion of IT companies. Business lounge will also be set up,” said Syed Almas Kabir.
“A total of 57 stalls, 36 mini pavilions and 16 pavilions will be raised and at least 20 seminars will be held in the show. More than 10 technical sessions will be held regarding different aspects of information technology,” he added.
Visitors will be able to enjoy free high-speed WiFi in the exhibition. They will also be able to enjoy the exhibition free of cost by pre-registering their names on its official website and It’s facebook page.
